Hawks Nest State Park review

Sarah Joyner
Great views from the trails and overlooks. We stayed here for two nights in one of the Tentrr canvas tents down by the lake and it was a great setup—especially for the cost! Kids are already asking when we can come back.

We enjoyed exploring the park and it was a great base camp for exploring New River Gorge National Park.

Beautiful park with lots of trails.Jet boat ride was fun and captian was a hoot. The park ranger that drove group to dock was very informative . Ate at lodge and had great service from young red haired girl. Just watch Google maps they were kind of off .

Great view of the valley. The rooms at the hotel looked nice but book up quickly. It’s unfortunate that the gondola service isn’t working any more. That would have been fun, but the jet boats still go.

Great views from all the different overlooks and trails we took today. Anstead trail we took today was the first one. Approx 1.75 miles long. Great trail with spectacular views of the fast flowing creeks that you can walk down to with caution in some areas. Definitely a great walk with magnificent sounds and easy as it’s cleared. Also, stopped at Hawks Nest Lodge showing the water views from a great height which are the last 2 pictures.
