The views at the top of the falls were cool and the bottoms were spectacular. The walk was rough down and up so if you have hiking poles, I suggest you bring them.
It was dry today. However, I can certainly see it being slippery if it’s recently rained if you are trekking down.
Coming out, be prepared for huffing and puffing as you make your way up the stairs unless you are in top shape. However, it is very manageable. There were all abilities, ages, and fitness levels making the hike down when I was there. I was there on a weekday, and there were more people than I expected to see with tourists, so I can imagine the weekends get really packed here. I highly recommend coming out during the week it you can.
The nature center is a great spot to check out. The trail from the nature center to the falls is relatively easy. If you are checking out the over looks the cane creek falls overlook is definitely work the extra elevation steps. I would skip Cane Creek Gulf overlook. There wasn’t really anything to see here. Rocky point overlooks lives up to its name. If you’re adventurous, you can do some rock hopping to a fairly nice view. However, it does take some dexterity to scramble those rocks, so if you aren’t up for that, you can skip the extra elevation steps here, too.
Overall I would my experience here a solid 4.5 but we’ll round up to 5 stars. Happy hiking!
