This place is Incredible! Not only are the trees beautiful and humbling but the camping and picnic areas are super nice as well. Our stay was truly heaven on earth, it was mid December and we were the only campers on site. We spent two amazing days here I definitely recommend it although I would want to stay a couple more days to experience more of their trials. They have short tails and long trails, trails for pets and trails that aren’t for pets, the bathrooms I went to were stocked with toilet paper and were clean! Calaveras Big Trees State Park is definitely a place to honor and protect. Thanks for having us. Here are some videos and photos of my visit.

The most majestic experience! I’ve wanted to see giant sequoias since I was a kid and this was the perfect place. Options were limited since we visited in February and didn’t have any gear (like snow shoes) that would’ve been necessary at the groves near Yosemite, but Calaveras Big Trees delivered.

They got a foot and a half of snow overnight and the trail was still manageable with snow boots.

As a visitor to the US one of my bucket list things to see was the giant Sequoia trees in California. I was fortunate enough to visit the South Grove in Fall – truly spectacular! We did the 5.6 mile loop and spent several hours hiking and enjoying the majesty of the Redwoods and the beautiful orange, yellow, red foliage of the Dogwood trees. We saw many different types of fungi along the trail as well. Don’t be put off by the distance around the loop – it really is worth doing the walk.

I love going here! If you get here early morning right at opening there is no one around. There’s lots of trails to choose from. The first couple trails right at the gate are super touristy but that’s also where the rangers are. They do guided bird watching on the first trail. And a few other activities. It does get a little busy during the day but the further in you go the less people there are. Lots of nice trails some are easy others are harder. Not all of them are maintained so watch your step. There are bathrooms at most trailheads.
I’ve seen lots of deer, birds, squirrels and chipmunks.
I’ve only been here for the day so I’m not sure how the camping is.
It’s $10 for day use.

There is a tiny cute museum inside the gift shop that has very friendly informative guides.
